W000000000t!

Mon Mar 10, 2008, 4:13 PM
So, I just noticed that my last update on this was a Bio for one of my characters a little more than a year ago. Which is kind of funny. So expect the next update March 19, 2009.

Anyway, I decided to give up on drawing and just decided to stick to writing and Alternate History. Which, if anybody really cares on the world wide internets, I've made a ton of really epic maps. You can actually see one in my SCRAPS folder out there right now.

Obviously, I've had a problem with size. I'll get my next three up soon(ish) they deal with the Aztecs, George Washington, and Eisenhower (or as I spell it Eisenhauer) ;)

First, Here's a little more info on Pax Victoriana:

As it says on the map, the POD is 1871. France wins the Franco-Prussian War and German unification is stalled. The Long Peace (the result of the Napoleon's defeat and the Congress of Vienna) lasts all the way to the year 2000.

I was actually inspired by this when my APUSH teacher had us read "Looking Backward: 2000-1887" by Edward Bellamy. It was about this guy named Julian West who falls asleep in his asbestos-lined basement and wakes up in 2000 (written in 1878 of course). He finds that all of society's problems are fixed by what we would call today as "Communism."

So I thought, "Hm... what would Mr. West really make of our world of 2000. Or better yet, HIS 2000 in a very different world?"

Since in the book, there were no significant differences in music, speech, or culture in general, I decided to just find a way to prolong the Victorian Age. World War I kind of did away with that and brought in the Roaring Twenties. So, kill of World War I by stalling German unification... BAM! Victorian Peace lasts until 2000.

As I wrote in the summary, Adolf Hitler, which you're probably most interested in what happened to him with a lack of World War II, ended up becoming a Prussian politician. (In Austria, he didn't make it too far after his art failed in Vienna) He likes to blame the Jews a lot for Prussia's problems. He doesn't make it too far though, offering up a plan to relocate them to Madagascar. Perhaps with enough influx of German immigrants, Prussia can take the island from France. His plan takes effect sometime in the '60s. Britain gets in with Prussia, with the beginning of Anglo-Prussian cooperation, by sending their own Jews to the island. Hence why Madagascar has British and German specks on it.

Current President of the United States: (as of 2000) Ted Stevens. Since the Victorian Age went unchecked, laissez faire economics took the helm and kept on going.

No problem. You earned it. I really like how you draw pictures from the stories of the games. The StarFox one and the Metroid ones are really neat.
